Alex Flynn, Ultra Runner

Alex Flynn is an ultra marathon runner and adventurer who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, an incurable disease, in 2008. Since then he has set his sights on running, crawling, swimming, riding 10 million metres (over 6000 miles) to raise money for research into finding a cure for Parkinson’s.
In 2009 Alex undertook the Marathon des Sables, one of the toughest foot races on earth, but he failed to complete the race when medics diagnosed cardio peritonitis. Despite this, he raised almost £2000 for The Cure for Parkinson's Trust. Since then Alex has taken part in and has plans for other extreme ultra and adventure running events around the world.
Embodying the true Buff spirit of Adventure, in April 2010 Alex became the first Parkinson’s sufferer to complete the 250km Marathon des Sables in temperatures averaging over 140ºF.
“The Buff Apparel socks are the most comfy and hard wearing socks I have come across. I have run numerous ultra marathons in the socks and have had little problem with my feet. Top piece of kit.
The Buff Apparel wind proof jacket is my second most used Buff product. Pretty much every race I have run over night sections and in poor conditions I have worn this jacket. High vis and only slightly heavier than normal, the thicker material provides respite from wind and heavy showers. Not much for cold protection but teamed with alternate layers, it served me well in the Sahara and also on the Grand Union Canal Race. I hope to take it with me when I run 1400 miles across Europe in 2011.”
