Alex FlynnUltra Runner
Alex Flynn is a 38 year old ultra marathon runner who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, an incurable disease, in 2008. Since then he has set his sights on running 10 million metres (over 6000 miles) to raise money for research into finding a cure for Parkinson’s. In 2009 Alex undertook the Marathon des Sables, one of the toughest foot races on earth, but he failed to complete the race when medics diagnosed cardio peritonitis. Despite this, he raised almost £2000 for The Cure for Parkinson's Trust. Since then Alex has taken part in and has plans for other extreme ultra and adventure running events around the world. Embodying the true Buff spirit of Adventure, in April 2010 Alex became the first Parkinson’s sufferer to complete the 250km Marathon des Sables in temperatures averaging over 140ºF.
