Dave Cornthwaite

Creative Explorer

Profile:
Dave has been planning and making content-rich expeditions since 2005, when he chucked in his job as a graphic designer to try and skate further than anyone ever had before. Twenty two months later Dave and his longboard, Elsa, had amassed some 4500 miles from John O’Groats to Lands End and then Perth to Brisbane, which earned him a few blisters and a Guinness World Record.

Dave’s ongoing career as a professional adventurer is now defined by Expedition1000, an ambitious undertaking to complete twenty five journeys of over 1000 miles, each using a different form of non motorised transport. In 2009 Dave kayaked the length of Australia’s largest river, the Murray, which means he only needs to find another twenty three viable modes of transport to help him cover a total distance that will exceed the length of the Equator. The end is in sight!

Next up is a long distance sail and a potential endurance record by Stand Up Paddleboard. We are never bored by Dave’s journeys, which he shares online through film, images and even cartoons.  In 2011 Dave set a new World Record by stand up paddle boarding the length of the Mississippi river.  You can see his video here: http://bit.ly/rv48kg

Testimonial:
'I have been seen wearing a High UV Protection Buff but without doubt my top choice is a Visor Buff. I often travel in ruthlessly hot environments and being of pale complexion it’s imperative that I cover up. Headwear that is light and packs into a tiny space comes in handy, but it’s gotten to the point that I feel a bit naked when I’m not wearing my Visor Buff, however I’m travelling. '
