Lee ChamberlainUltra Runner
Lee grew up in Spalding Lincolnshire. When he completed school in 1995 he joined the R.E.M.E as a Vehicle Electrician. He completed a tour of In 2001 Lee had a near miss at work where he was nearly trapped in between two vehicles. While laid in hospital he thought about an extreme challenge and he ended up taking on an ultra treadmill run. In 2004 Lee first tried for the 48 hour record and then in 2007 he had his first attempt at the 168 hour record. In 2009 he tried again and was successful completing 468 miles and a new world record. Lee set a new record when he won the Trans Britain race in September 2010, completing this 150 mile multi-day ultra running race, which starts in Scotland and finishes in Wales, in six days, 34 hours and 19 seconds. “As an Ultra Runner running in all conditions I now always wear a Buff® or two. This November I attempted to run from John O'Groats to Lands End, with a support crew of 5 others I set off and managed to run over 215 miles in the first 2 and a bit days. This included day and night running and my Polar Buff® and Jacket came into their elements by saving me in the early stages of hypothermia. Shivering and losing the ability to function properly, I had a Polar Buff® on my head and another around my face, these and being cuddled by a team mate helped me reach the checkpoint. After a few hours rest I carried on but due to the weather and not feeling 100% myself the run was going to take longer than expected. So changing to a team of 6, we all ran and cycled the rest of the 870 mile route completing it in 8 days. It was an amazing trip, huge team effort and for some who had never ran more than 5 miles it was amazing to see the effort they put in and their determination to finish the journey.” Testimonial: Website: www.leechamberlain.co.uk
