Think Pink Racing

Profile:
Sandra Chaplain of Think Pink Racing passed her motorcycle test and began drag racing in 1995. Drag racing is the fastest motorsport on earth, with some vehicles covering the quarter mile course in 5 seconds. Sandra – a Cambridge graduate whose day job as a lecturer in research methodology provides a stark contrast to motorcycle racing - is one of a handful of women who compete in this sport, which has no separate classes for women. She started racing with an 1100cc Suzuki on which she was runner up in the National Championship in her first full season. She has since regularly competed in National and International Events and collected over 30 awards.

Sandra currently has three 1400cc bikes, two of which use nitrous oxide injection and one a supercharger to make the machines produce around 400 brake horsepower. The bikes use slick tyres and wheelie bars allowing Sandra to ride much of the race on the back wheel only. Her pink Buff Kukuxumusu bike reaches speeds of 170 mph over the quarter mile from a standing start and next season plans to be getting nearer to 200mph.

Testimonial:
'I never race without wearing a Buff because its so versatile. It keeps my head cool and my hair in check – it’s as essential as all my other riding gear. I always wear one in the pits and my crew are identifiable by their assorted Buff headwear on the start line. A Buff is warm when its cold and are always ‘cool’ no matter what the weather - what more could you ask for?’
